The history of Marabella pizza runs deep, with its origins starting 80 years ago at Salvatore Amato’s local bakery in Sicily, Italy. His unique approach to making fresh breads and pizzas was soon passed down to his son, Nino, who would eventually apply his skills as an artisan baker to a job offered in New York City.
Nino immigrated to America, baking fresh goods daily at a famous deli in Little Italy known as “Italian Food Center”, which still stands today. Here, Nino baked all day long for customers, including famous clients like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett & Ronald Reagan. Nino eventually decided to take the next step and start a business of his own, opening three pizzeria locations in New York City through the 1980s and 1990s. He made sure to teach everything he knew about food and business to his sons Salvatore, Pietro, and Massimo.
Since 2006, Salvatore, Massimo, and Pietro have opened Marabella locations in Washington, Greenville, Winterville, and Wilmington, North Carolina – enriched with over 80 years of Italian family tradition over three generations. Marabella Old World Pizza focuses on making traditional pizza the way it is made in Italy, with century-old recipes handed down from family members throughout the years, as well as contemporary New-York-Style pizza. Our fresh dough, sauces, cheeses, and pastas are prepared daily.
Nino travels constantly to all the locations to make sure everything is made “Nino’s Way” …With Quality Food, Personality & Love.
